Will I make money?

Yes, a $7,000 stipend will be paid in two installments (you pay for housing). Also, in appropriate instances, funds may be available to send program participants to present their summer research at a technical conference during the upcoming academic year.

 

 

How long is the program? And where?

11 weeks, on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia.

 

 

Who is eligible?

Rising juniors and seniors (preferred) who attend universities in the USA and are U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

 

 

What curricula are favored?

Chemistry, physics, and biomedical, mechanical, chemical, civil or materials engineering, biology, biochemistry and pre-med programs.

 

How do I apply?

  1. Complete the online application form (or mail in the hardcopy application) and "Statement of Goals,"

  2. Ask one professor to write a letter of recommendation, and

  3. Request an official transcript to be sent to the application address below.

 

You will not be considered unless we receive all three items listed above.

 

 

Where do I send my application materials?

Online applications are automatically routed. You should send your Statement of Goals (if you need more space than is available on the application form), your recommendation letter and your official transcript to:

When is the application deadline?

Although there is no hard-and-fast application deadline, faculty will begin reviewing applications and selecting their summer researchers beginning February 1st. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications early as slots are filled quickly.

 

When will I know?

Faculty will begin selecting students February 1, 2016.  We hope to make announcements by the beginning of April.
